Japan provided a grant to Uzbekistan for personnel training
This program is designed for young civil servants of Uzbekistan to study at Japanese higher education institutions in fields that are of priority for the country
Japan has allocated a grant to Uzbekistan for personnel training
Under its grant aid program, the Government of Japan has provided a total of 358 million yen (approximately 2.25 million dollars) in grants for the education of young civil servants in Uzbekistan.
The exchange of notes on providing scholarships for personnel training was signed in Tashkent by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to our country, Kenji Hirata, and the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kongratbay Sharipov.
This program is aimed at enabling young civil servants of Uzbekistan to pursue master's degree studies at Japanese universities in priority areas for the country.
Graduates are expected to return to their homeland and actively participate in the development of state programs that serve the progress of Uzbekistan, as well as contribute to deepening mutual understanding and further strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.

As we previously reported, the first summit of the "Central Asia + Japan" dialogue was held in Tokyo on December 20, 2025. At the high-level consultation, prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the Central Asian states and Japan in priority areas were discussed.
During the summit, in the joint statement of the heads of state (Tokyo Declaration), human capital development was also identified as one of the priority areas of cooperation under the "Tokyo CA+JAD" initiative.
Japanese Ambassador Kenji Hirata also called human resource development and education one of the key areas of cooperation between the two countries at a recent conference in Tashkent.
Japan traditionally provides educational grants to Uzbekistan. Thanks to these grants, hundreds of representatives of Uzbekistan's ministries and agencies have studied at prestigious universities in the Land of the Rising Sun. They have returned to their homeland with master's and doctoral degrees and are successfully working in the public and private sectors, as well as in various branches of the national economy.
