Israeli army orders criminal investigation into killing of Palestinian girl Hind Rajab in Gaza
The six-year-old spent hours on the phone to paramedics before her body was recovered days later in Gaza City in 2024.

The Israeli military has initiated a criminal investigation into the killing of six-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab in Gaza. Her death drew widespread international condemnation, particularly after a poignant recording of her conversation with paramedics was globally broadcast.
Hind was one of seven family members in a vehicle in Gaza City that reportedly came under Israeli fire in January 2024. While several family members died in the initial attack, she survived. However, her body was found days later alongside her relatives and two paramedics who had attempted to rescue her in an ambulance.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement indicating that "following a review of the findings" and "due to alleged failures in the coordination of the movement of the Palestine Red Crescent ambulance, it has been decided to initiate a criminal investigation of the incident by Military Police Criminal Investigation Division."
