Israel announces the elimination of a senior Hezbollah commander

Israel has announced the killing of a senior Hezbollah commander.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the killing of Abu Hassan Aloa, a senior commander of Hezbollah's Badr unit in Lebanon.

Abu Hassan Aloa was reportedly involved in attacks against Israeli soldiers. The Israeli military said his killing dealt a serious blow to the Badr unit's leadership.

The IDF said in a statement that "Abu Hassan Aloa was killed in response to Hezbollah's actions against Israeli soldiers operating in the security zone."

The Israeli military said the operation was carried out after it was discovered that Aloa was involved in organizing attacks against soldiers operating in Lebanese territory.

The IDF said the operation followed an earlier report that Hezbollah's Radwan battalion commander, Ali Samir al-Hajj Hassan, had been killed.

On August 12, Israeli forces also struck the northern Gaza Strip. According to the IDF, the target of the attack was a commander of the military wing of the Hamas movement.

The Israeli army said that it had taken measures to minimize civilian casualties before the attack. High-precision ammunition was used during the operation.

**Situation and losses in Lebanon**

Israel has occupied several areas in southern Lebanon. Some of them have been occupied for decades, while others were occupied during the 2023-2024 war. During the current military campaign, Israeli forces have penetrated more than 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory.

According to official Lebanese figures, 4,192 people have been killed and 12,171 injured in Israeli attacks in Lebanon since March 2. More than 1 million people have been forced to flee their homes.

Later, US President Donald Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that it was necessary to withdraw troops from Syria and Lebanon. However, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz made a statement saying that the Israeli army would not leave the occupied territories in southern Lebanon, even if the US government demanded it.
