Israel strikes Syria again, Damascus condemns attack

Israel carried out airstrikes in southern Syria on August 22, calling the operation an "operation to eliminate a terrorist." Damascus condemned the attack, calling it a clear violation of its airspace. Reuters reported.
According to the Syrian Foreign Ministry, a drone fired on a civilian vehicle on a road near the village of Beit Jinn. As a result, civilians were injured, and state television reported that at least one person was wounded.
Israel claimed that its attack was aimed at a person who was directly threatening its soldiers, but did not specify what weapons or equipment were used.
The situation between the two countries became even more tense after Israel struck the Abu ad-Dukhur air base on August 18. Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that the operation was carried out to prevent Turkish troops from settling at the base.
Official Ankara, however, stressed that it had no plans to send its troops to the facility. US President Donald Trump's special representative for Syria, Tom Barrack, called the attack on the airbase an "unnecessary escalation." Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon called for the removal of Benjamin Netanyahu from power over the attack.
