Former Israeli Defense Minister Calls for Netanyahu's Removal from Power

Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon has called for the removal of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from office, Anadolu Agency reported, citing Yaalon's post on the social network X.
Yaalon condemned Israel's August 18 strike on the Abu ad-Dukhur air base in Syria. Netanyahu's office said the strike was carried out to prevent Turkish troops from establishing themselves at the air base.
Ankara has officially stated that it had no plans to send troops to the air base. According to Yaalon, the strike has strained Israel's relations with Turkey and accused Netanyahu of trying to open a new front.
The former defense minister also touched on the Gaza issue, saying that the Peace Council established by US President Donald Trump and its 15-point document are useless for Israel.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak also condemned the attack on Syria. He compared Netanyahu's actions to those of a gambler, saying he was completely out of control.
"This is a political goal: to create a series of security situations that will cause concern among the population in order to get to the elections," said Ehud Barak.
Israel will hold parliamentary elections on October 27. Netanyahu, the leader of the ruling Likud party, is set to run for prime minister again.
