Uzbekistan proposes to lower the age of criminal responsibility for group hooliganism to 14

In Uzbekistan, there are plans to establish criminal responsibility for hooliganism committed as part of an organized group starting from the age of 14. Currently, it applies from the age of 16. The Senate approved the corresponding amendments at its 20th plenary session.

The law also provides for liability for financing criminal organizations, creating them, and assisting in concealing the crimes they commit.

Certain changes stiffen the punishment for hooliganism and causing grievous bodily harm. In addition, liability is introduced for the illegal organization or holding of combat sports competitions.

The law has been approved by the Senate and must undergo the prescribed procedures before entering into force.
