Uzbekistan intends to introduce bodyguard services for tourists

Uzbekistan plans to expand the list of security services for tourists, including offering bodyguard accompaniment to foreign guests, official delegations, and business representatives.

The agencies agreed to jointly prepare new safety measures for tourists.

This refers to ensuring safety on routes with a high flow of guests, at historical and cultural sites, in hotels, and recreation areas. The Protection Department also presented new service formats that include preliminary risk assessment, route security organization, and rapid response in emergencies.

In addition, there are plans to more actively use video surveillance systems, technical security equipment, and rapid response teams at tourist sites. They also want to develop targeted safety programs for specific tourist destinations.

The Protection Department emphasized that tourist safety must be ensured not only at individual sites but throughout the entire trip — from entry into the country until its completion.

It is also reported that from January to August 2026, more than nine million foreign tourists visited Uzbekistan — 21.1% more than in the same period last year. The largest growth was shown by tourist flows from China, Malaysia, and Japan.
