Tourism growth in Uzbekistan: 7.7 million tourists and $3.9 billion in exports

Uzbekistan is experiencing a tourism boom: 7.7 million tourists and $3.9 billion in service exports.

From January to July 2026, Uzbekistan welcomed 7.7 million foreign tourists, a 22.6% increase compared to the same period last year.

Positive trends in inbound tourism have been observed in recent years. In 2023, 6.6 million foreign tourists visited the country; in 2024, this figure exceeded 10 million, and by the end of 2025, it reached 11.7 million.

The expansion of international flights is contributing to the increase in tourist flow. In 2026, new international routes were launched to Tashkent, including China Eastern flights from Shanghai, Asiana Airlines from Seoul, and Shirak Avia from Yerevan. On August 10, 2026, Etihad Airways launched direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent. Regional airports are also showing growth: passenger traffic in Termez increased by 52%, in Urgench by 24%, and in Nukus by 23%.

From January to June 2026, Uzbekistan's airports handled 8.15 million passengers, a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Along with the growing number of tourists, the hotel infrastructure is also actively developing. In the first seven months of 2026, 705 new accommodation facilities opened in the country, adding 22,300 beds. Currently, there are 7,440 hotels and guesthouses in Uzbekistan, capable of accommodating over 202,000 guests.

The growth of tourism is bringing significant economic benefits: from January to July 2026, revenues from tourism services reached almost $3.9 billion, a 56% increase compared to the same period last year.

The Tourism Committee summarized the results, noting that inbound tourism is showing growth across all key indicators:

the number of foreign tourists increased by 22.6%;

tourism service exports increased by 56%;

airport passenger traffic increased by 16%.
