In Uzbekistan, the harvesting of wild plants will be permitted through online auctions

Uzbekistan has introduced a new procedure for harvesting wild plants for medicinal, industrial, and food raw materials. Now, entrepreneurs will be able to obtain the right to harvest them through electronic auctions, and the volumes will be strictly limited by ecological quotas.

Anyone will be able to participate in the bidding, and the distribution of resources will take place openly and on a competitive basis. Winners will not need to collect additional documents — the auction protocol itself will serve as the basis for issuing the permit, without any additional fees.

At the same time, it is not allowed to freely harvest wild plants in any volume. Quotas are approved annually by the National Committee for Ecology based on the conclusion of the Academy of Sciences. This allows for taking into account nature's ability to restore resources and preventing illegal harvesting.

Earlier, in the Navoiy region, the illegal harvesting of wild ferula was detected. Violators damaged 7.5 thousand plants, and the damage caused to nature was estimated at more than 3 billion soums.
