In Uzbekistan, it is proposed to introduce fines for concealing facts of early marriages and pregnancies of minors
A draft law has been submitted for public discussion in the country, providing for administrative liability for citizens and officials who fail to report early marriages and pregnancies among girls under 16 to law enforcement agencies. The discussion of the document will last until September 19.
According to the initiative, representatives of mahallas, registry offices, educational and medical institutions, as well as the clergy, will be obliged to report such cases to the internal affairs bodies and "Inson" social service centers upon detection.
The following fines are proposed for failing to report violations:
- for citizens and employees of institutions — from 3 to 5 BRV (base calculating value);
- for officials — from 5 to 10 BRV.
In the event of a repeated violation within a year, the fines will be significantly increased.
