In Uzbekistan, girls find jobs faster, while young men have higher salaries — analysis

As part of the Graduate Quality Index (GQI), the labor market outcomes of young people were analyzed by gender. While the study showed that girls have an advantage in terms of employment rate and speed of finding a job, it revealed that young men are ahead in terms of average monthly salary.

According to the results of the Graduate Quality Index, the employment rate among girls was 85.1 percent, while for young men it was 80.4 percent. Additionally, girls found employment in an average of 2 months, while young men took 3 months.

However, the situation is different regarding the average salary indicator: for young men, this figure was 6 million soums, while for girls, it was 3.9 million soums.

According to the analysis, the top 5 sectors with the highest results in the labor market are as follows:

Leading sectors for girls:

transport services;

mathematics and statistics;

education;

business and management;

humanities.

Leading sectors for young men:

business and management;

healthcare;

arts;

mathematics and statistics;

information and communication technologies.

The average monthly income of graduates across the republic was 4.9 million soums. By region, the highest indicator was recorded in the city of Tashkent, amounting to 6.6 million soums. Among the regions, high results were formed in Navoiy region at 5.0 million soums and Tashkent region at 5.0 million soums.

Although graduates across the republic found employment in an average of 2 months and 27 days, the share of those stably employed over the last six months was 42.9 percent.
