In Uzbekistan, girls are finding jobs faster than boys, but are earning lower wages

The employment rate among female graduates is 85.1 percent, while for young men it stands at 80.4 percent

In Uzbekistan, girls are finding employment faster than boys, but they are earning less. Within the framework of the Graduate Quality Index (GQI), the labor market outcomes of graduates were analyzed by gender. According to the results, girls had higher indicators in terms of employment speed and employment rate, while boys had higher indicators in terms of average salary.

The employment rate among female graduates was 85.1 percent, while for boys it was 80.4 percent. On average, girls found a job in two months, whereas for boys this indicator was three months.

Regarding the average salary, however, the opposite situation was observed: a higher result was recorded for boys. Their average salary amounted to 6 million soums, while for girls it was 3.9 million soums.

The in-demand fields where graduates showed high results in the labor market also differ by gender.

Among girls, the five most in-demand fields consist of transport services, mathematics and statistics, education, business and management, and humanities.

For boys, business and management, healthcare, arts, mathematics and statistics, and information and communication technologies were recorded as the most in-demand fields.
