In Uzbekistan, exemplary behavior will no longer be required to earn a school medal.

The language regarding "exemplary behavior" and active participation in public life has been removed from the regulations governing certificates and awards for graduates. These criteria will no longer be taken into account when issuing the relevant documents.

These changes were introduced by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated August 24 to the Regulation on General Secondary Education. The document removed the clause requiring graduates to demonstrate exemplary behavior and be active in public service.

Similar amendments were made to the incentives for graduates of comprehensive schools and academic lyceums. Specifically, the phrase "and exemplary behavior" was removed from the requirements for gold and silver medals. Previously, it was included in the list of conditions, along with high academic achievement and public involvement.

Furthermore, an updated state model for the electronic certificate of general secondary education was approved. Three versions of the document are available: standard, with a silver medal, and with a gold medal for excellent academic performance. The electronic certificate will be issued in A4 format and contain a QR code, the national emblem of Uzbekistan, and academic performance information in both Uzbek and English.

It was previously reported that the new 2026/2027 academic year will traditionally begin on September 2 in all public schools in Uzbekistan. Students in academic lyceums and technical schools will also begin classes on the same day.
