In Uzbekistan, "basketball" trash cans are being installed along fields

The Ministry of Agriculture has announced an environmental initiative aimed at keeping farmlands and roadside areas clean.

Non-standard trash containers, designed in the style of basketball hoops, have begun to be placed along roads near fields.

The main objective of the project is to encourage drivers and passengers to dispose of waste only in designated areas and to prevent the pollution of territories adjacent to fields.

The ministry appealed to road users with a request not to throw plastic bottles and other trash out of the windows of moving cars, but to stop in safe places and use the special trash cans.

"After stopping in a safe place, test your accuracy: the target should be the trash can, not the field! If you miss the basket, do not leave the trash on the ground," the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture called on farmers and representatives of local khokimiyats (administrations) to support the initiative: to establish joint work on installing containers in convenient locations and to ensure their timely emptying.
