For the first time, Uzbekistan will establish a unified procedure for issuing driver's licenses to railway and metro train drivers. The new rules will come into effect on January 1, 2027.

From this date, it will be possible to apply for a license to operate locomotives, multiple-unit trains, and metro trains through the Single Portal of Interactive State Services.

Testing will also be transitioned to an electronic format. The system will automatically determine the exam results.

The new driver's license will be issued for a term of 10 years. Current drivers must obtain the new-style documents by January 1, 2029.

If a license is lost or damaged, drivers will be able to obtain a duplicate without retaking the test. This will also be possible in the event of changes to specific data in the document.

The new procedure was approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 502 dated September 17, 2026.
