In Uzbekistan, new rules for gas-powered vehicles have been clarified
From September 1, gas-cylinder vehicles will not be turned away from filling stations en masse: the new rules apply when the inspection period expires.
Uzbekistan Clarifies New Rules for Vehicles with Gas Cylinders
Starting September 1, vehicles with gas cylinders in Uzbekistan will not be turned away en masse from gas filling stations, and drivers will not need to obtain QR codes all at the same time.
According to the Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety, the new procedure applies only when the scheduled date for the next technical inspection of the gas cylinder is due.
The clarification emerged amid reports claiming that starting September 1, all owners of gas-powered vehicles would allegedly have to undergo an inspection and obtain a QR code.
The Committee emphasized that drivers whose current technical inspection has not yet expired can continue to use their vehicles based on their existing documents. Starting September 1, they are not required to undergo a re-inspection or urgently obtain a new QR code.
Inspections are conducted on a scheduled basis once the established deadline for the technical inspection is reached.
After the results are entered into the electronic system, a corresponding document with a QR code is issued. Thus, the new procedure does not imply that all drivers must visit laboratories at the same time.
The system was introduced in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 315 dated June 18, 2026. Its main objectives include monitoring the technical condition of gas cylinders, preventing the use of forged documents, and reducing the risks of accidents and other incidents related to gas equipment.
For example, if a cylinder underwent a technical inspection in March 2025 and the issued document is valid until March 2028, no re-inspection is needed after September 1. The driver is also not required to obtain a QR code immediately and can continue to use the vehicle based on the valid document.
However, if the inspection period expires after September 1, 2026, then upon reaching the established deadline, it is necessary to undergo a scheduled inspection, enter its results into the electronic system, and obtain a document with a QR code.
When installing a new gas cylinder on a vehicle, its inspection and documentation are also carried out in accordance with the established procedure.
The Committee noted that the new procedure is primarily aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and protecting their lives and health.
