Uzbekistan to Prepare Guidelines on Gender-Responsive Budgeting
On September 18, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance between Deputy Minister Akhadabek Khaidarov and representatives of the Asian Development Bank. The main topic of the negotiations was the introduction and development of gender-responsive budgeting.
During the conversation, the parties discussed ensuring gender equality, the practical implementation of gender-responsive budgeting, as well as promising areas of bilateral cooperation. The importance of promoting gender approaches in the fields of education, healthcare, and social protection, as well as improving the qualifications of government employees in this area, was particularly emphasized.
The meeting participants reviewed the development of a special practical guide for civil servants, which will explain the goals, content, and principles of gender-responsive budgeting in an accessible format. In addition, they discussed the organization of staff training and the preparation of a practical roadmap for the development of this area.
Following the meeting, agreements were reached on defining further measures for the development of gender-responsive budgeting, taking into account the current two-year strategy and the work already carried out in the republic, as well as on holding working meetings with the participation of relevant ministries, agencies, and international organizations.
