At the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year, the number of school teachers in Uzbekistan stood at 577.7 thousand. Of these, 72.5 percent were women, with the largest number of teachers working in the Samarqand and Qashqadaryo regions.

In Uzbekistan, 72.5 percent of teachers are women — which region has the most teachers?

According to data provided by the National Statistics Committee, the number of teachers in general secondary education organizations has increased by 12.8 thousand, or 2.3 percent, compared to the 2024-2025 academic year. Part-time teachers are not included in the calculation.

Of the teachers, 418.8 thousand are women and 158.9 thousand are men. Their share in the total number of teachers was 72.5 and 27.5 percent, respectively.

By region, Samarkand and Qashqadaryo regions are leading — 65.1 thousand teachers worked in each of these regions. Fergana region followed in next place with 60.6 thousand teachers.
