Experts from the Canadian media platform Visual Capitalist, relying on data from the World Bank and the UNESCO Institute for Statistics for 2022-2025, sought an answer to the question of whether more men or women are highly educated today.

According to the results, globally, women are on average 12 percent ahead of men in obtaining higher education. In particular, in Uzbekistan, the enrollment of women in higher education is 14 percent higher than that of men, and the country ranked 105th out of a total of 148 positions in this direction.

The largest gap between women and men in university graduation was observed in the Republic of the Gambia. There, women are 83 percent ahead of the opposite sex.

Sint Maarten ranks second in the world in terms of the number of highly educated women, where the difference is 78 percent in favor of women. In third place is Saint Vincent and the Grenadines — 68 percent.

The top ten countries in the world where women are more educated than men also include Qatar (64 percent), Maldives (64 percent), Tuvalu (60 percent), Guyana (57 percent), Aruba (57 percent), Samoa (57 percent), and Kiribati (56 percent).

Among countries with large economies, Sweden (40 percent), Poland (37 percent), Brazil (36 percent), and the USA (32 percent) stand out in this ranking.

In the CIS region, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia lead in terms of women's enrollment in higher education. There, the number of women entering and graduating from higher education institutions is 28 percent higher than that of men.

According to this ranking, among the Commonwealth countries, second place was taken by Azerbaijan with a difference of 22 percent, and third place by Kazakhstan (17 percent).

In the ranking, Uzbekistan (14 percent) recorded the same indicator as China and Belarus. In Russia, this difference is 7 percent. It is worth noting that in Tajikistan, the number of highly educated men is 5 percent higher than that of women.

At the bottom of the ranking are countries where men outperform women in higher education enrollment.

The largest difference was recorded in Benin. There, the indicator for men is 41 percent higher than that for women.

Countries where the number of highly educated men is significantly higher than that of women also included the Republic of the Congo (difference of 33 percent), Malawi (30 percent), Burkina Faso (26 percent), Laos (25 percent), Bangladesh (23 percent), Kenya (21 percent), and Rwanda (20 percent).
