In the Tashkent region, nearly 14 billion soums were embezzled during the construction of wastewater treatment facilities

In the Tashkent region, a possible embezzlement of 13.9 billion soums from the budget was uncovered during the construction of wastewater treatment facilities. In the reports, the cost of the completed work was overstated, although the actual expenses turned out to be lower. A criminal case has been initiated.

The violation was discovered by officers of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office during a pre-investigation check in the Zangiata district.

According to the agency, this concerns the construction of treatment facilities in Nurafshan. A contract for the execution of works was concluded between an engineering company and the "Suvokova" enterprise.

However, the cost of the completed work was overstated in the documents. While the actual expenses amounted to 73.3 billion soums, the reports indicated a sum of 87.2 billion. The difference amounted to 13.9 billion soums. According to the investigation, the budget funds may have been misappropriated or embezzled.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding this fact under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. The investigation will continue to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the individuals involved.

Earlier, a major embezzlement was uncovered in the Samarkand region — 1.1 billion soums were embezzled by employees of the regional department of preschool and school education during the procurement of soap.
