In the Namangan region, there are plans to harvest 254.5 thousand tons of cotton.
Preparations for the 2026 raw cotton harvest have started in the Namangan region.
This season, cotton was planted on an area of 48.8 thousand hectares, and the average yield, according to plans, is expected to reach 52.2 centners per hectare. This was reported by the information service of the Namangan regional khokimiyat.
With these indicators, the region intends to bring the total harvest volume to 254.5 thousand tons. Currently, the mass opening of bolls has begun in the fields, indicating the approach of the main stage of the harvesting campaign.
To carry out the work, 856 harvesting detachments have been formed in the region. This year, the main emphasis is placed on mechanized harvesting: it is planned to harvest 70% of the crop using cotton-harvesting machinery.
In total, 178 cotton-harvesting units are intended to be involved in the campaign. At the same time, the region's machinery fleet was replenished with 57 new machines this year.
Preparations for the harvest were discussed at a regional demonstration seminar-meeting, which took place at the field camp of the "Elita urug'chilik" farm in the Mingbulak district. The event was attended by agricultural veterans, elders, heads of regional law enforcement agencies, district khokims, and representatives of relevant organizations.
The main attention at the seminar was paid to reducing losses during harvesting, meeting established deadlines, safety requirements, and the clear organization of all stages of the campaign. Following the meeting, measures aimed at conducting the harvesting work within tight deadlines were determined.
The khokim of the Namangan region, Shavkatjon Abdurazzokov, instructed the responsible officials to ensure the timely harvesting of cotton from the fields, create the necessary conditions for the pickers, and organize the fulfillment of the established target indicators.
The start of the harvesting campaign was also accompanied by a traditional event involving elders: sacrificial livestock was slaughtered, and a dastarkhan was laid.
The participants offered prayers for the well-being of the tillers and farmers and gave their "white blessing" to the start of the new season.
