In Tashkent, a trial is underway against the former head of the capital's tax service and the ex-deputy head of the department under the Prosecutor General's Office.

The Shaykhantakhur District Criminal Court is hearing a criminal case against Yunuszhan Nasimdzhanov, the former head of the Tashkent City Tax Department, and Alisher Ganiev, the ex-deputy head of the city department of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office. Nasimdzhanov is accused of embezzlement and abuse of power, while Ganiev is accused of abuse of power and illegal border crossing.

Nasimdzhanov is charged under Article 167 ("Embezzlement by appropriation or waste") and Article 205 ("Abuse of power or official authority"). He headed the capital's tax service from 2021 to 2026.

Ganiev is charged under Article 205 ("Abuse of power or official authority") and Article 223 ("Illegal exit from or entry into the Republic of Uzbekistan").

Both officials were dismissed from their posts following a meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev on January 27. At that time, instructions were given to investigate Nasimdzhanov's activities and take measures within the framework of the law. Regarding Ganiev, it was stated at the meeting that he assisted so-called "entrepreneurs" in tax evasion. During the meeting, the work of the capital's law enforcement and tax authorities was criticized as a whole.
