Two acquitted

On September 11, 2026, at around 12:00, the Chairman of the Yangikhayot District Court of Tashkent, S. Makhametov, announced the verdict in the criminal case against the former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, B. Abdullaev, the head of the Main Department for the Execution of Punishments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, R. Tursunov, and others.

A total of 31 defendants were prosecuted in the case, who were charged under Article 167, Part 3 (embezzlement on an especially large scale), Article 205, Part 2 (abuse of official authority), and Article 209, Part 2 (official forgery).

The court acquitted B. Abdullaev and R. Tursunov, sentenced 12 defendants to punishments not involving deprivation of liberty, and released them from custody right in the courtroom. Only 7 defendants remained in custody, having been sentenced to various punishments.
