In Tashkent, control over fare evaders on buses has been strengthened
After the introduction of the new fare payment procedure, the number of reports filed for fare evasion in Tashkent increased by almost 68%.
In Tashkent, control over passengers who do not pay their fare on buses has been tightened. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport.
The agency reminded that since September 1, 2026, a new fare payment procedure has been in effect on all city buses operating under the gross contract system. Now, passengers must pay for their trip immediately upon entering the bus.
Due to the change in the payment procedure, inspectors from the state institution "Monitoring and Control of Passenger Transport of the City of Tashkent" are conducting intensified control and raid activities. Their task is to improve discipline and the culture of fare payment among passengers.
Statistics indicate an increase in the number of detected violations. In August, administrative protocols were drawn up against 10,843 passengers who did not pay their fare under Part 5 of Article 144 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which provides for liability for fare evasion.
On average, about 350 such cases were recorded per day in August.
During the first eight days of September, the number of detected violations was noticeably higher. As of September 8, administrative protocols under the same article were drawn up against 4,696 passengers who did not pay their fare.
The daily average for this period reached 587 protocols. The Ministry of Transport notes that compared to the average figure for August, it grew by 237 cases per day, or by almost 68%.
Thus, after the introduction of the new fare payment procedure, control over compliance with the requirements on city buses was tightened, which was reflected in the number of detected cases of fare evasion.
