In Tashkent, a public map of inconvenient streets was launched

A crowd-sourced map of inaccessible streets launched in Tashkent

An online service has launched in Tashkent allowing residents to mark places that are inconvenient for pedestrians and people with disabilities. On the map, users can report broken sidewalks, missing footpaths or ramps, as well as other obstacles to mobility.

The Qulay Shahar project was launched by blogger and digital security expert Shukhrat Kurbanov (Kurbanoff.net). The map is available on the website qulayshahar.uz, and problem areas can be reported via the Telegram bot @sharoit_bot.

At the same time, the project is not an official city service. It is not affiliated with the khokimiyat or the "Xalq Nazorati" system. It is an independent non-profit initiative based on voluntary citizen participation. The creator aims to compile a comprehensive map of urban inaccessible spots to draw attention to pedestrian infrastructure issues.

Photos undergo moderation before publication, so a mark does not appear on the map immediately. Another important rule: a pin will not simply disappear from the map over time. It will be removed only after the specified problem is actually resolved.

The project's authors want to obtain not just a list of urban shortcomings, but a comprehensive map of problems that will help draw attention to the state of Tashkent's pedestrian infrastructure.

Anyone can join the project: if you notice an inconvenient spot, take a photo and send it via @sharoit_bot.

Earlier, it was reported what passengers lack for comfort at Tashkent bus stops.
