In Samarkand, a teenager impersonated a Road Patrol Service officer

In Samarkand, a minor schoolboy posed as a Road Patrol Service (DPS) officer and fraudulently obtained money from citizens by promising to help pay administrative fines. This was reported by the Road Traffic Safety Service (RTSS).

According to the agency, the teenager created a Telegram account under the name of Khurshid Safarov, head of the information service of the Road Traffic Safety Department.

To set up the profile, he used photos taken from Safarov's Instagram page.

Impersonating an officer, the teenager wrote to car owners about allegedly unpaid fines and offered assistance in settling them.

To do this, he asked them to transfer money to specified bank cards. According to the minor himself, some citizens sent him 100,000 and 50,000 soums. He pocketed the funds received.

The teenager admitted his guilt and stated that he regretted his actions. His father also apologized to the public and stated that he intends to personally take charge of raising his son.

Officers of the Cybercrime Department of the Samarkand Region detained the suspect.

Currently, initial investigative measures are underway, establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the teenager's possible involvement in other offenses.

Law enforcement agencies urged citizens not to transfer money to individuals who contact them via social networks on behalf of internal affairs officers, and to report such cases to internal affairs bodies.
