In Samarkand, a Malibu driver nearly hit eight pedestrians at a crossing
In Samarkand, the driver of a Malibu car failed to yield to eight pedestrians at a crossing and performed a dangerous maneuver. Among the people crossing the road was a woman with a baby stroller.
The footage shows the car approaching the pedestrian crossing at high speed and nearly hitting the people. The pedestrians managed to notice the car in time and avoid a collision.
According to the Road Safety Department of the Samarkand region, the incident occurred on September 8 at 22:20 on Mirzo Ulugbek Street in Samarkand.
It was established that the driver of the Malibu 2, by failing to yield to the pedestrians, flagrantly violated traffic rules, posing a threat to the lives and health of eight people.
The driver's identity has been established. A preventive talk was held with him.
The driver himself explained the incident by saying he was in a hurry, and while driving, according to him, problems with the brakes arose. He stated that because of this, he changed lanes from the first to the third to avoid a collision.
"God protected me from hitting the pedestrians. I apologize a thousand times to the citizens, to those pedestrians, and to the traffic police officers. This will not happen again. I regret what I did," the driver said.
An administrative protocol has been drawn up against the man under Article 128-10 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan ("Road hooliganism").
