It is planned to create 50 thousand jobs in Qashqadaryo over three years
At a meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of the Qashqadaryo region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev outlined tasks for further increasing indicators in industry, services, and agriculture in the area.
In the nine months of the year, the region's industry grew by 8.4 percent, the services sector by 16.6 percent, and agriculture by 4.9 percent. However, the head of state emphasized that there is still a large gap between the achieved results and the region's existing potential.
In terms of per capita industrial production, the region ranks seventh in the republic, ninth in services, and eleventh in agriculture and construction volume.
The President noted that if district khokims and banks create an environment that encourages knowledge, provides opportunities for work, and supports initiative, Qashqadaryo could emerge among the most advanced regions in one or two years.
At the meeting, the task was set to turn the region's gas, electricity, and underground resources into profitable jobs and high added value.
Three major projects worth $300 million have been prepared at the GTL plant. There is an opportunity to implement a $1.5 billion project for the production of new polymers and petrochemical products based on 430 thousand tons of naphtha obtained from the plant.
Additionally, the possibility of increasing the capacity of the Dehkanabad potash plant from 365 thousand tons to 600 thousand tons per year was considered. It was also reported that there are more than 30 project proposals with a total value of $830 million in the field of small-tonnage chemistry.
The project manager assigned to the region and other responsible officials were instructed to develop a three-year program. The program should encompass $20 billion worth of projects and 50 thousand jobs.
