In one month, electricity and gas worth nearly 72 billion soums were stolen in Uzbekistan

During August, "Uzenergoinspektsiya" detected more than 300 cases of illegal use of electricity and gas. The preliminary total damage was estimated at nearly 72 billion soums.

In total, 321 cases of illegal consumption of energy resources were recorded over the month. According to the inspection's calculations, 19 million kilowatt-hours of electricity worth 40.7 billion soums were stolen.

Another 31.2 billion soums of damage was caused by the illegal use of 10 million cubic meters of natural gas. In addition, 340 administrative cases were filed in August for violating the rules of using energy resources.

It is also reported that the illegal use of electricity for the operation of pumps, elevators, lighting, and commercial facilities was detected in the Tashkent, Namangan, and Navoiy regions. The total damage was estimated at approximately 4.5 billion soums.
