In Navoiy, a mother who pressed her daughter under the age of 2 against a hot stove has been tried

In the Karmana district of Navoiy region, a 23-year-old woman who pressed her daughter under the age of 2 against a hot stove in order to make her ask to use the toilet has had her freedom restricted.

It was revealed that the woman enrolled her child (born in 2024) — a daughter — in a neighborhood kindergarten in January of this year. Because the child soiled her underwear, the kindergarten teachers mentioned this to her mother several times.

The woman discussed this matter with her sister-in-law (husband's brother's wife). Her sister-in-law told her that her sister-in-law (husband's sister) had also soiled her underwear when she was young, and stopped this habit after her brothers burned her buttocks with a hot object.

Following this, the mother concluded that this method might also help her daughter. On January 19, she took her daughter to the bathroom to bathe her and pressed both of her buttocks and the front of her thigh against the pipe of a hot stove.

The next day, seeing that both of her daughter's buttocks were burned, the woman applied medicine to the injured areas and treated her at home. After 3–4 days, the child's mother-in-law also found out about the burn.

The incident became known to internal affairs officers nearly five months later. On June 11, after a family dispute arose between the woman and her husband, her mother-in-law called the neighborhood chairman, the women's activist, and internal affairs officers to the house. While complaining about her daughter-in-law, she mentioned that she had taken photos of her granddaughter's burns on her phone and showed the pictures to the officers.

In court, the woman stated that she had no intention of torturing her daughter, but did so to discourage her from the habit of soiling her underwear. Expressing regret for her actions, she asked the court to impose a lighter sentence.

According to the forensic medical examination report, burn wounds were identified on both of the child's buttocks.

The injuries were caused by the effect of a high-temperature object and were assessed as a light bodily injury causing health impairment lasting no more than six days.

The court took into account the woman's confession, her remorse for her actions, her youth, and the fact that she had no prior convictions as mitigating circumstances.

The Karmana District Criminal Court found the woman guilty of committing the crime stipulated in Article 110 (Torture), Part 2, clauses "a, v" of the Criminal Code. She was sentenced to a 2-year restriction of liberty.
