A video has spread on social media showing a teacher hitting a child in the face several times right during a lesson. It has emerged that the incident occurred in the Namangan region, and the regional department of preschool and school education has already launched an internal investigation.

The incident took place on September 16 at approximately 10:30, during the third lesson, in the 1st "B" class of school No. 39 in the Kasansay district. According to preliminary data, the teacher used physical force against the child after he was unable to read an assignment in a book.

To establish all the circumstances of the incident, the department has formed a working group. An internal investigation is currently underway, the results of which will provide a legal assessment of the incident and the actions of the responsible officials.

Based on the results of the investigation, appropriate measures may be applied to the school administration and the teacher in accordance with the procedure established by law.

The regional department emphasized that educational institutions must ensure the rights and legitimate interests of students, respect their honor and dignity, and prevent any forms of violence.

This incident occurred against the backdrop of stricter accountability for educators who commit violence against children. In Uzbekistan, physical or psychological violence against minors carries fines ranging from 1 to 5 BRV (Base Calculating Amount), and teachers subjected to administrative liability are suspended from working with children for one year.
