In Khorezm region, a mother and her three children died from food poisoning. A criminal case has been opened

An investigation is underway in Bagat district of Khorezm region into the deaths of a mother and her three minor children. According to preliminary data, the family was poisoned by food left over from a birthday celebration.

As the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office informed Podrobno.uz, it was preliminarily established that on October 8, the mother and her three minor children consumed food left over from a birthday celebration held the day before. Following this, the family members showed signs of food poisoning. On October 9 and 10, all four died.

On October 10, a criminal case was opened regarding this fact under paragraph "a" of Part 4 of Article 276-11 of the Criminal Code. This article provides for liability for the production, storage, transportation for the purpose of sale, or sale of goods, performance of work, or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, committed on an especially large scale.

In response to a clarifying question from a Podrobno.uz correspondent as to whether the qualification under this article means that the dangerous food was purchased rather than prepared at home, law enforcement agencies stated that this fact is currently being clarified by the investigation.

Specialists from the regional Department for Emergency Situations, the Service for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, as well as the Health Department have been brought in for the inspection. Experts and investigators will have to verify the entire chain and establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
