In Kazakhstan, a three-year-old girl has fallen into a coma after dental treatment
In Pavlodar, a three-year-old girl was admitted to an intensive care unit after a visit to the dentist. According to relatives, during the treatment the child began having breathing difficulties, but the doctor did not stop the procedure. The girl is currently in a coma.
According to family members, during the dental treatment the girl's condition deteriorated sharply: her gaze changed and she had difficulty breathing. Noticing something was wrong, the child's mother asked the doctor to call an ambulance; however, as the girl's aunt claims, the dentist said it would pass and continued the treatment.
As the relative recounted on social media, the ambulance was ultimately called by a nurse from a neighboring office. By that moment, the child had already lost consciousness, and foam began coming from her mouth. According to the woman, the dentist provided no medical assistance.
The relative also claims that the girl's heart stopped on the way to the hospital. A second cardiac arrest occurred at the medical facility.
The Pavlodar Regional Health Department confirmed that the child's condition is extremely critical.
"A girl born in 2023 was admitted to the hospital on October 21 in extremely critical condition. She was immediately hospitalized in the intensive care unit, bypassing the admissions department. The child is connected to a mechanical ventilator, and intensive therapy is being administered," the department reported.
To determine further treatment strategy, specialists conducted telemedicine consultations with experts from the National Scientific Center for Motherhood and Childhood and the National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Center.
The dental clinic stated that it is conducting an internal investigation to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
"The quality of medical care and patient safety are the primary priorities of the clinic. All procedures are carried out in strict accordance with medical protocols. An official investigation is currently underway to establish the objective circumstances and causes of what happened," representatives of the institution reported.
The clinic also emphasized that it is premature to draw conclusions about the fault of employees before the investigation is completed.
According to the regional health department, the circumstances of the incident are being investigated by law enforcement agencies. A legal assessment will be given based on the results of the check. It is also noted that the clinic provides medical services as part of a state order.
At present, the girl remains in intensive care. The circumstances of the sharp deterioration in her condition and the causes of the incident are being established.
