In Fergana, a young man who killed his grandmother and set fire to her house was sentenced to 17 years in prison

In the Baghdod district of the Fergana region, a 20-year-old young man killed his grandmother and, in order to cover up the traces of the crime, set fire to the apartment where her body was located. His peer was also an accomplice in committing this crime. According to the court decision, the young man was sentenced to 17 years, and his accomplice to 16 years of deprivation of liberty.

It was revealed that the deceased lived alone in one of the multi-story buildings in the Baghdod district. Her grandson knew well that she lent money to people for interest and had funds in her apartment. The grandson, who had previously been convicted twice for theft, planned the next crime specifically to seize this money.

Two days before the crime, he called an acquaintance who was working in Tashkent and told him that money could be made in Baghdod. After his accomplice returned to the district, they discussed the criminal plan at around 23:00. The next day at around 15:00, they went to the deceased's residence to assess the situation, but returned without executing the plan because there were many people on the street.

A day later, they came to the apartment again. This time, there was no one around, and taking advantage of the grandmother's absence from home, they entered the apartment and began searching for money and valuables. At that moment, the deceased returned home and resisted them.

Following this, the grandson stabbed his grandmother in the chest with a kitchen knife he had brought with him. The woman sustained serious bodily injuries and lost consciousness. After that, the criminals took a gold chain and earrings, a car monitor, and 2 million soums from the apartment and left.

Later, the grandson returned to the apartment again to hide the traces of the crime. At around 16:00, he bought 10 liters of gasoline from a gas station and hid it near the house. At around 23:00, he took the gasoline, entered the apartment, splashed it on various parts of the house and on his grandmother's body, and set it on fire. After that, he locked the door and left the scene.

In the case reviewed by the Buvayda District Criminal Court, the first defendant was found guilty of committing crimes stipulated in paragraph "p" of the second part of Article 97, paragraph "g" of the second part of Article 169, and paragraph "b" of the second part of Article 173 of the Criminal Code, and was sentenced to 17 years of deprivation of liberty.

The second defendant was found guilty of committing crimes stipulated in paragraph "p" of the second part of Article 97 and paragraph "g" of the second part of Article 169 of the Criminal Code, and was sentenced to a term of 16 years of deprivation of liberty.
