In Chiroqchi, a school principal was sentenced to two years in prison for selling extra lesson hours

In Chiroqchi district, a school principal was sentenced to 2 years of deprivation of liberty for demanding money in exchange for allocating additional teaching hours.
In the Chiroqchi district of Qashqadaryo region, a school principal who asked for money from a teacher in exchange for providing additional teaching hours was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
It was revealed that the citizen had been working as a principal in one of the schools in the district since June 2022.
In May of this year, a subject teacher at the school approached the principal, requesting an increase in teaching hours for the 2026/2027 academic year. The head initially disagreed but said that if the teacher paid 1,000 dollars, he would help allocate additional teaching hours. After the teacher explained their family situation, the principal agreed to resolve the matter for 700 dollars.
Following this, the teacher went to the principal's house, gave him 50 dollars as an advance, and reported the matter to the Chiroqchi district department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Based on the report, an operational event was conducted, and the head was apprehended.
During the trial, the principal asked for leniency, claiming that he had taken the money as a loan rather than in exchange for increasing the teaching hours.
The citizen was found guilty under Article 210, Part 1 of the Criminal Code (taking a bribe) and was sentenced to 2 years of deprivation of liberty. He was also deprived of the right to hold leadership and financially responsible positions in educational institutions for a period of 2 years.
