In Chirchiq, a head nurse who demanded a $500 bribe to secure a job at a polyclinic has been sentenced

In the city of Chirchiq, Tashkent region, a head nurse who demanded $500 in exchange for employing a citizen at a polyclinic has been punished by the court.

It was revealed that the woman had been working as a head nurse in one of the family polyclinics under the Chirchiq City Medical Association since November 2025. On June 25 of this year, a citizen came to this institution with the intention of getting a job as a nurse. The head nurse took her to the chief physician and left the room.

After the job-seeking citizen finished the interview with the chief physician, the head nurse promised to get her hired as a dental nurse through the head of the Chirchiq City Medical Association. In exchange, she demanded $500. Later, the parties agreed on $400.

The woman reported this situation to law enforcement agencies. The next day, they met in front of one of the private clinics in Chirchiq for the money exchange. The head nurse was caught red-handed by officers conducting an operational event while receiving the agreed money.

During the trial, the woman fully pleaded guilty. According to her, she had not reached an agreement with the head of the medical association regarding the employment of the citizen, nor had she discussed giving the received funds to him.

The Chirchiq City Court found the woman guilty under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code and sentenced her to 2 years and 2 months of restriction of liberty. She was also deprived of the right to work as a head nurse in state and non-state medical institutions for two years.
