School principal in Khorezm who took 14 million soums by promising employment was sentenced to 3 years in prison

A school principal in Khorezm who promised to hire a job and received 14 million soums was sentenced to 3 years in prison. The Daryo publication reported this, citing court documents.
The principal of one of the schools in the Khanka district, Z.Y., born in 1977, was appointed to his position in November 2025. In February of this year, a woman named S.X. came to his school asking for a job.
During the conversation, Z.Y. said that the position of physics teacher was vacant at the school, that she would initially work in this position, and then she could be transferred to the position of deputy director for spiritual and educational affairs. He also noted that “each school has its own expenses” and indicated that “a little help” was needed before starting work.
Initially, Z.Y. demanded 23 million soums in exchange for hiring the woman and promoting her. When S.Kh. said that he did not have this amount of money, the director said that he would solve the problem for 14 million soums.
After that, Z.Y. began to demand that the money be given as soon as possible. S.Kh. appealed to law enforcement agencies.
During an operational operation on February 24, Z.Y. was detained while receiving 14 million soums of chemically treated money from a taxi driver traveling on the Urgench-Khonka route.
In court, the director stated that he had requested the money as a loan with the condition of returning it within two months, and that he had no intention of hiring or promoting the woman. However, the court found the testimonies of witnesses, audio recordings, Telegram correspondence, operational documents, and expert opinions to be evidence confirming Z.Y.'s guilt.
The court found Z.Y. guilty under Article 210, Part 2, Clause “v” of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 3 years in prison. He was also deprived of the right to work in positions related to official and material responsibility in enterprises, institutions and organizations with state participation for 2 years.
The director’s defense attorney was dissatisfied with the verdict and filed an appeal, but the appeal instance of the Khorezm regional court did not satisfy the appeal and left the verdict unchanged.
Earlier, it was reported that a school director in Kashkadarya who took a bribe of $500 less than 2 months after his appointment was sentenced to 5 years in prison, and a school director in the Termez district of the Surkhandarya region who took a bribe of 2 million soums from his deputy, whose staff was being reduced, was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
