In China's Hebei province, a 70-year-old woman unexpectedly regained consciousness two days after being placed in a coffin.

The woman had been battling cancer and cerebral venous thrombosis for many years. After doctors said the illness was incurable, her relatives took her home to care for her.

On September 8, her relatives found the woman lifeless and began preparations for the funeral. To preserve the body until family members living in another city arrived, they placed her in a refrigerated coffin.

On September 11, while relatives gathered to say their goodbyes, the woman believed to be dead suddenly regained consciousness and opened her eyes. However, her condition was very critical, and she had neither eaten nor drank water.

The woman passed away that very night. The funeral was held on September 13.

This incident caused debates on social media regarding its credibility. Meanwhile, local residents said they had heard of such an event in their village.

Doctors call this phenomenon "apparent death." In this state, the body's vital signs become almost imperceptible: breathing and heartbeat slow down so much that it can be difficult to detect them using ordinary methods.
