In Bukhara, the concreting of the Juizar Canal will improve the water supply for 13,700 households.
Completion of the concreting project for the Juizar Canal in the Bukhara District will increase its capacity by 60% and save 12 million cubic meters of water annually.
Reconstruction and concreting of the Juizar Canal, built in 1938, is currently ongoing in the Bukhara District. Over the years, the canal bed had become heavily silted and covered with sediment, significantly reducing its capacity.
Water supply problems affected residents of eight mahallas and agricultural enterprises in the district.
Several months ago, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, visited the region and ordered measures to reduce water losses and concreting the canal bed.
Excavation work has now been completed on a 10-kilometer section, of which 9 kilometers have already been completely concreted.
Upon completion of the project, the Zhuyzar's capacity will increase by 60%. This is expected to result in annual water savings of approximately 12 million cubic meters.
The project's primary impact will be improved water supply for over 13,700 households. Furthermore, stable irrigation will be provided for 8,500 hectares of farmland and 2,800 hectares of household plots.
Thus, the canal reconstruction is intended to reduce water losses and provide residents and farmers of the Bukhara district with a more stable resource for irrigating agricultural land.
