In Angor, a man who left a wedding in an intoxicated state hijacked a bus

In Surxondaryo, a man who hijacked a bus has been criminally prosecuted.

According to the court verdict, Z.K., born in 1966, went to a wedding at a wedding hall in the Navbahor neighborhood of the district on the morning of June 26, 2026. Having consumed alcohol there, Z.K. left the wedding hall and drove off in an Isuzu bus that was parked nearby with its door open and the key inside.

The bus belonged to the Angor District Improvement Department. Its driver had transported workers and went to join them, leaving the bus door open.

"The key was in the bus, and I was with the workers. At that moment, I noticed a stranger driving the bus away. Since he had already driven far, I couldn't stop him. I immediately reported it to '102'. After that, traffic safety inspectors blocked and stopped the bus in the Muzrabot district," the driver said.

During his escape, Z.K. even drove the vehicle in the opposite lane. In court, he pleaded guilty and stated that he could not remember anything due to his intoxication that day.

"On that day, my sister was marrying off her daughter. That's why I came to the wedding. I consumed alcohol at the wedding. When I left the wedding hall, I got drunk because it was hot outside. I don't know what happened after that. The next day, when I came to my senses, internal affairs officers told me that I had hijacked a bus, driven in the opposite lane, and that inspectors had blocked my path and stopped me. I cannot remember these actions of mine because I drank a large amount of alcohol," Z.K. said.

Expressing regret for his actions, Z.K. asked the court for leniency.

By the verdict of the Angor District Criminal Court, Z.K. was found guilty of committing the crime stipulated in Part 1 of Article 267 of the Criminal Code (hijacking a transport vehicle). He was sentenced to 4 years of deprivation of liberty. The man was taken into custody in the courtroom.
