Citizens injured two traffic police officers in Surkhandarya

A criminal case has been opened against citizens who injured two traffic police officers in Surkhandarya. The press service of the regional traffic police department reported this.

The incident occurred on August 9 in Angor district. A 39-year-old citizen named T.U. was driving a Damas car when he saw traffic police officers on duty, changed direction and tried to escape. Traffic police officers followed him. When the driver tried to get out of the car near his house in the Ilgor neighborhood and escape, the officers stopped him. Since he smelled of alcohol, the officers wanted to take him for a medical examination.

At that time, the driver U.T.'s brother T.O., his wife N.N., another brother T.Z. and his neighbor M.M. arrived at the scene, actively resisted the officers of the Internal Affairs Department performing their duties and injured two officers.

According to the information of the officers of the Internal Affairs Department, representatives of the Angor district prosecutor's office and the operational-investigation group of the Internal Affairs Department who arrived at the scene investigated the situation. On the same day, a criminal case was initiated against citizens under Part 2 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code (resistance to a representative of the authorities or a person performing his civil duty).

Earlier, videos were circulated in Jizzakh showing a preventive inspector using force on a woman. The regional Internal Affairs Department commented on this situation and announced that pre-investigation measures were being taken in order to provide a legal assessment of the actions of all those involved in the incident.
