**A driver who ignored the law was sentenced to two years in prison**
A driver who repeatedly violated the law in Bukhara, despite being deprived of the right to drive a vehicle, was sentenced to two years in prison by a court decision. This was reported to "Xabar.uz" by Feruz Sharopov, head of the regional court's information service.
According to court documents, 29-year-old Sh.R. was found guilty of committing offenses stipulated by a number of articles of the Code of Administrative Responsibility by a decision of the Gijduvan District Court in criminal cases in 2025. At that time, he was sentenced to deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of two years and a fine of 9 million 375 thousand soums. However, this punishment was not a sufficient lesson for him.
Soon after, Sh.R. committed another offense and drove a car. This time, despite being deprived of the right to drive a vehicle, he got behind the wheel. In connection with this incident, which was identified by the traffic police officers, he was again imposed an administrative measure and was fined 18 million 750 thousand soums. He was explained that getting behind the wheel again could lead to criminal liability after previous administrative penalties.
Sh.R., who did not stop at what he knew, disregarding the laws and regulations, got behind the wheel once again. In March of this year, he was driving his car on the internal road passing through the Degrezon neighborhood of Gijduvan district. This time, however, his action, which seemed like a simple matter to him, did not end with a fine.
In court, Sh.R. fully confessed to his guilt. According to his statement in court, at that time his wife was in a hospital in the district center. He had to urgently go to the hospital to get information from him, and therefore, despite the fact that he was deprived of the right to drive a car, he drove it.
— However, from the point of view of the law, a situation indicated as a personal reason or urgent need does not make it legal for a person deprived of the right to drive a vehicle to get behind the wheel again, — said the chairman of the court Farhod Ergashev.
As a result, Sh.R.'s actions were found guilty under Article 261² of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Driving a vehicle by a person deprived of the right to drive a vehicle) and he was sentenced to two years in prison.
— He was also deprived of the right to drive a vehicle for three years. It was determined that he will serve his sentence in a penal colony. And he was taken into custody directly from the courtroom, — said the chairman of the court.
