100 billion soums to be allocated for fruit and vegetable processing in Andijan

At a meeting being held in the Andijan region, the President outlined tasks to increase the number of large complexes in the livestock, poultry, and fishery sectors in order to ensure food security.

In Ulugnor, 5,000 hectares of land transferred from cotton to fodder crops will allow for the breeding of at least 10,000 head of cattle. It was noted that livestock farming can also be expanded through the effective use of lands along field edges.

By the end of the year, instructions were given to create conditions for livestock grazing on at least 200 hectares of such areas, as well as to develop projects for large livestock complexes in Ulugnor and Buston.

Based on the experience of the $20 million chicken meat complex launched in Baliqchi, the task was set to start projects for 4 such complexes in Jalaquduq and 3 in Khojaobod.

Additionally, a fishery cluster will be established on 1,200 hectares of land in Ulugnor, based on the experience of the Baliqchi district.

New measures were defined to bring the hilly lands in Jalaquduq, Marhamat, Asaka, and Andijan districts into economic circulation.

A dedicated "Agrostar" company will be established, and by spring, work will begin to bring water to 4-5 thousand hectares of land and establish industrialized orchards of peaches, cherries, apricots, and plums. The orchards will be tended for three years and then offered to the population in a ready state.

$30 million will be allocated for these purposes, and 200 billion soums will be allocated to bring water to the hills.

It was noted that currently only 16 percent of the fruits and vegetables grown in the region are processed. It was stated that by leasing small equipment to the population and creating district brands, this figure can be increased to 30 percent, and exports can reach $500 million.

In fruit and vegetable growing, a transition will be made to the principle of "maximum value from a hectare." 100 billion soums will be directed towards leasing small processing equipment.

The greenhouse project established on 5 hectares in Baliqchi will be popularized across the country. For this, 300 billion soums will be allocated, including 50 billion soums to Andijan.
