Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his wife, Mehriban Aliyeva, arrived in Bukhara as part of their state visit to Uzbekistan. They were met at the airport by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his wife, Ziroatkhon Mirziyoyeva.
Following the official meeting, the two heads of state will continue their joint program in Bukhara. The leaders will visit the historical sites of the ancient city and inspect the work of industrial enterprises.
Aliyev's state visit to Uzbekistan is taking place on August 23-24 at the invitation of Mirziyoyev. The main high-level talks took place in Tashkent, where the parties discussed the development of strategic partnership and alliance, trade and economic ties, transport, and humanitarian cooperation.
Following the visit, further development of joint projects and bilateral relations is expected. During a state visit to Uzbekistan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev praised the reforms implemented under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, citing them as a catalyst for expanding cooperation between the two countries. Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan currently aim to increase mutual trade turnover to $1 billion over the next two years.
