Hungarian expected to rival Infantino for FIFA presidency
Opponents of current FIFA President Gianni Infantino view former London "Arsenal" head coach Arsène Wenger as his rival in next year's election for the organization's leadership, reports write.
It is noted that they hope to convince the 76-year-old Wenger to run for the FIFA presidency.
Wenger is considered the most successful manager in "Arsenal's" history. Under his leadership, the team won the national championship three times and lifted the FA Cup seven times. Since 2019, he has been serving as FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development.
The FIFA presidential election will take place in March 2027. Infantino has been leading FIFA since 2016 and plans to run for another term. Additionally, former "Tottenham" and Switzerland national team defender Ramon Vega has also expressed his desire to run for the leadership of the organization.
