The ever-expanding war in the Middle East poses a new threat to global oil supplies. On Thursday, Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni Houthis launched new strikes against each other.
The Houthis reported that Saudi airstrikes hit the Hajjah province near the Red Sea coast, as well as areas around Taiz.
The Houthis, who control Yemen's entire Red Sea coast, said Saudi forces had carried out hundreds of airstrikes in recent days. A day earlier, the Houthis claimed to have shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet.
Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, reported that a drone was shot down in the city of Taif. A Yemeni citizen residing in the kingdom was killed by falling drone debris. This is the first death announced by Saudi Arabia since fighting escalated last week. Previously, more than 80 people were reported injured.
According to the International Organization for Migration, the recent clashes have forced more than 100,000 Yemenis to flee their homes, mostly within Yemen.
Meanwhile, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that a Togo-flagged tanker attempting an "illegal crossing" through the Strait of Hormuz was struck and caught fire.
Trump, who has refused to enter the war against the Houthis, said he is at a decisive moment regarding the resumption of attacks against Iran.
"I have a big decision. Do I want to go in there and wipe them out or not? It's a big decision. Anything is possible with me," Trump said in an interview with Axios. Trump has previously threatened new major attacks against Iran that did not materialize.
No negotiations are being held between the US and Iran after a temporary agreement reached in June collapsed. The US State Department stated that the war will be discussed next week at the UN General Assembly, which the Iranian delegation will attend.
On September 17, the US House of Representatives approved a bill on "hellish sanctions" against Russia. The Senate had already approved this document, named after a pro-Ukrainian senator, back in August.
