Glasses designed for hard-of-hearing people have gone on sale in the US

Microphones built into the glasses pick up ambient sounds, a processor analyzes the incoming audio signals, and isolates human speech. The processed sound is transmitted through small speakers located near the ears. This does not require placing any device inside the ear.

The American company Legato has launched the sales of Frames glasses, designed to simultaneously correct vision and function as a hearing aid. Microphones, a processor, and speakers are integrated into the frames of the glasses. The sound processing system isolates human speech from surrounding noise.

These glasses are designed for people with mild to moderate hearing loss. The microphones continuously capture ambient sounds. The processor installed in them analyzes the incoming sound signals, isolates human speech, and controls the amplification level of various frequencies.

The processed sound is transmitted through small speakers located near the ears. This does not require placing any device inside the ear. The ears remain open, allowing the person to continue hearing surrounding sounds naturally.

The manufacturer has also applied directional sound transmission technology. This helps minimize the chance of nearby people hearing the sound coming from the glasses. The sound processing takes place directly on the glasses themselves. The device does not have a camera, and conversations are not recorded.

The user can control the volume and select sound processing parameters adapted to various environments through a special app developed for smartphones.

Standard or prescription lenses can be installed in the glasses frame. Depending on the frame type, the weight of the glasses without lenses starts at 27 grams, and approximately 34 grams after the lenses are installed.

The battery built into the glasses lasts for more than 10 hours. It takes about two hours to fully charge. A half-hour charge provides an additional two hours of use.

The device also supports Bluetooth 5.3 technology. It can be connected to a smartphone to make phone calls and listen to music.

Legato has launched the sales of glasses with three types of frames — Aria, Harmony, and Symphony. The price for Harmony and Symphony starts at $999, while the price for Aria starts at $1099.
