LG announced full compliance with user privacy on its TVs and monitors

LG Electronics Uzbekistan has officially responded to recent suspicious reports regarding user privacy on LG TVs and monitors.

The statement says that as an industry leader, LG considers it its duty to provide customers with clear and understandable information about the operating principles of Smart TV products and the available privacy settings.

"Some recently published articles in the press may have caused misconceptions about how LG Smart TVs work. We want to explain how our Smart TV products work and how LG approaches user data protection issues," the statement says.

It is noted that LG Smart TVs do not continuously record or transmit users' conversations. Speech-to-text conversion begins only when voice communication is activated via the wake-word function used by the user or when the voice control (or AI) button on the remote control is pressed.

The audio data used to detect the wake-word is processed locally on the TV itself. If the wake-word is not detected, the sound is not converted to text, stored, or transmitted anywhere.

During the voice command processing, speech recognition results and related technical logs may be created. Such recordings relate only to specific voice queries and do not imply continuous recording of conversations taking place outside of an active voice session.

Speech recognition results may be used to support voice features, but they will not be uploaded later if the TV was disconnected from the network during use or if the connection is restored later.
