Germany's special forces have begun preparing for a potential war with Russia.
Instead of several-day raids, the fighters are preparing to stay in field conditions for much longer.
"We have focused on the main enemy - Russia," a serviceman told the publication, explaining that an elite squad of special forces is undergoing training, within the framework of which a shift is planned to operations lasting much longer than three-day missions — where fighters would have to remain behind enemy lines for a considerably longer period.
This is about adapting to the conditions of fighting on NATO's eastern flank in the event of a war with Russia. According to the general, the enemy is assumed to possess tanks, artillery, unmanned aerial vehicles, and electronic warfare (EW) capabilities, while combat operations are expected to take place in freezing conditions.
According to Kühn, under the plan, the KSK unit would have to enter the battle ahead of the 45th Armored Brigade that Germany is deploying in Lithuania. The general emphasized that the KSK has already demonstrated its capabilities as part of training exercises in the Baltic states, and Russia is aware of them.
