France has entered the top 5 European countries for tourist flow to Uzbekistan

The growth of inbound tourism is changing Uzbekistan's approach to promotion abroad. Along with the increase in the overall tourist flow, working with specific markets where interest in the country has already been established and there is potential for further growth is becoming increasingly important. France is becoming one of these destinations.

France has entered the top five European countries for tourist flow to Uzbekistan

Between January and August 2026, Uzbekistan welcomed 22,055 tourists from France — a 20.6% increase compared to the same period last year. In terms of arrivals during this period, France was among the top five European countries for inbound tourism to Uzbekistan. Direct flights between Paris and Tashkent remain an additional stimulus for further growth, according to the Tourism Committee.

At the same time, tourism cooperation between the two countries is already expanding beyond the growing tourist flow. French companies are participating in major tourism infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan. MND, a company specializing in mountain infrastructure, is involved in the creation of the Chimgan all-season resort. The French cable car manufacturer POMA is considering projects in Chimgan and Zaamin, while a number of other French companies participated in developing the concept for the Beldersay–Chimgan–Nanay international all-season resort. In the hospitality sector, the French group Accor is represented in Uzbekistan by the Mercure, Mövenpick, Swissôtel, ibis, and Novotel brands.

The tourism product that Uzbekistan offers to the international market is also changing. In addition to traditional routes through historical cities, the country is expanding opportunities for year-round travel — from mountain and wellness tourism to gastronomy, nature trails, and MICE. New projects and destinations in the regions make it possible to complement the classic Silk Road routes and offer travelers more options for exploring the country.
